David & Nadia Chenin Blanc Magnum 2023 1500ml
R930.00
This wine is crafted from grapes sourced from eight different vineyards, with planting dates ranging from 1968 to 1986. It has been aged for 11 months, with 80% in neutral oak and 20% in concrete. The nose presents a struck-match reduction alongside aromas of peach, lemon, orange, fynbos, and earthy undertones. The palate is dense yet taut, featuring pure fruit flavors and vibrant acidity that lead to a dry finish.
David Sadie refers to this old-vine Chenin Blanc as “our bread and butter,” highlighting its origins from various sites on the Paardeberg, primarily on granite soils. It is earthy and stony, with an exciting complexity. The wine exudes aromas of fennel and lanolin, while the palate offers notes of citrus, green apple, and a complexity from the lees, finishing with a refreshing, palate-cleansing effect.
